What; Wakefield Business Forum 

Enjoy a light breakfast and have the opportunity to have your say about pressing business topics which are facing the Wakefield business community.

This forum provides a real opportunity for all present to express their point of view to other local businesses as well as to important decision makers.

The topic for this meeting is ‘The Skills Gap’.

At this meeting, we will hear the views of Mary Creagh MP for Wakefield,Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director of Haribo UK and Simon Baldwin, Head of Enterprise at Leeds Beckett University.

What; Centre for Defence Enterprise

The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) is part of MOD’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). We fund novel, high-risk, high-potential-benefit research to develop cost-effective capabilities for UK armed forces and national security. We work with the broadest possible range of science and technology providers including those who are new to the defence market. small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and universities and their spin-outs. You can submit a CDE proposal for a proof-of-concept research contract either at any time to our enduring challenge competition, or in response to the technical challenges in our specific themed competitions as detailed on our website.

Where; A day of promoting Small Business online, and with direct action, various nationwide events.

What; BizEd Connected Event Wakefield First

Wakefield College and Copiserv have teamed up to deliver an event that will give Wakefield District businesses and schools the opportunity to build links and stronger connections.

Working across the public and private sector, we know our businesses and schools want to speak to each other, but often don’t have the time or the contacts to build these relationships.

We want to create an opportunity to generate real connections that result in long term and beneficial relationships. There are already some brilliant partnerships between local industry and schools, but we need more!!
